Brand Voice: Your Secret Weapon

Do you ever read content from a company and ask, “Who writes this amazing stuff?” You might not, but I do—all the time. Brand voice and tone—how your brand expresses itself in writing—can be as powerful as an ad campaign. As my colleague, Tracy Lloyd says, “Brand is the total experience that you create for customers (and everyone else).” One major component of that brand is voice and tone. When your brand’s voice is engaging, predictable, and reflects your brand, it strengthens your brand. One company that does this especially well is The Skimm, a daily newsletter targeted at millennial women. It’s funny, entertaining, and informative. And it doesn’t change over time.
